A Little Celebration for Baby’s Arrival

Last Sunday I had my girlfriends over for an autumn breakfast in our backyard to celebrate the arrival of my baby girl. Luckily a few minutes before they all arrived the rain stopped! But we would have had fun anyway. We shared some delicious pastries my girlfriends baked: pear and chocolate tart, croissants, maple and walnut pie, madeleines, date cake, chocolate cake, citrus salad… on a beautiful table my friend Mrs. Peasy styled! I took care of the flowers station for a little workshop we had after breakfast. At first I wanted to have someone come and teach us how to make flower crowns, but it was a last minute idea and had a hard time finding someone available for that day. So I decided to watch a few tutorials and find images for inspiration on Pinterest, went to the flowers market on Friday and filled the moses basket with the beautiful flowers I found according to my fall color palette. It was a success! We all had so much fun making the crowns and turns out it wasn’t too difficult too make especially for all those crafty ladies!

November 18th from Lea Lafleur on Vimeo.

November 18th was my birthday. I turned 31! For the occasion I picked up Lula earlier from daycare and I took her on her first cable car ride! She loved it! She waved to people, dogs…

And we crossed Danny and Mindy on the set of The Mindy Project TV show in a cable car on the opposite side (00:31 in the video). So fun!

We had seafood and french fries for lunch, went to see the Christmas tee, played on the beach, had a hot chocolate at Ghirardelli, played at the beach and end the day with a magical cable car ride back in to downtown. A good birthday afternoon with my favorite person in the whole world.

Lula’s First Birthday Party!

one_3

A couple weekends ago we celebrated Lula’s first birthday. If you’ve seen her party invitation you already know that the theme was “Fete Foraine” inspired by Le Parc de la Tete d’Or a gorgeous park in my hometown. We couldn’t have hoped for a better weather and were so glad almost all of our friends could be here with us to celebrate and my parents too!

I had fun making the paper decors: swan, ferris wheel, cotton candy machine, pinwheels, garlands, little train and ice-cream stand. The napkins, glasses, tablecloths, plates were from Meri Meri and the party hats from Oh Joy for Target collection. Our friend Thibault made 30 delicious belgian waffles (thank you again so so much, they were a hit!) and my mum brought from France a lot of sweets: cherry lollipops, dragés, biscuit rose de reims, roudoudou…. we also had pop corn, Sugar & Spun cotton candy, cupcakes from Mission MinisDynamo donuts and Anthony’s cookies (thank you Maria and Jason! my favorite cookies in SF). Ouahh so much food and I didn’t even find the time to eat, I was so busy running everywhere…but I caught up the day after with the left overs!

I hope you enjoy looking at these beautiful photos taken by amazing photographer Priscilla Gragg! Merci Priscilla!

Sorry for the amount of photos, I couldn’t choose! (and even more to come)

Lula wore 2 different outfits! She started with a super fun tutu from Australian company Rock your baby. And then she wore a Jacadi dress and Freshly Picked moccasins. Her pom pom felt crown is from Hiho batik.

National Chocolate Cake Day

I was reading my friend Jordan’s blog Oh Happy Day last week and apparently today is chocolate cake day! haha. Well, I won’t say no to that either and I can even confess: every day is a chocolate day for me! This is a real addiction. I don’t smoke, I don’t drink…but chocolate mmmm! So I paper baked yesterday and made this chocolate bundt cake! One of my favorite. Inspired by a mold I have.

Bon appetit!

Last Weekend in Mill Valley!

Last weekend we went on for a lunch at Beer Works (so delicious) followed by a little walk in Mill Valley’s forest with my sister. We had an amazing time. I love this place so much, the light is magical.

My sister went back to London on tuesday, it was so hard to say goodbye. I really hope to be able to go to France soon so Lula can meet all my family.

I am wearing a Zara beanie, Anthropologie vest (from last year) and Steve Madden boots. Lula is wearing a hand knitted hat by her great grandmother,  a Gap sweater, Oeuf NYC brooch, Zara Mini pants and little booties from General Store.

Looking forward to do it again!

Here are a few things I enjoyed last year and I am looking forward to do again this year:

1/ Drink hot chocolates with marshmallow while watching movies under the blanket!

2/ Rent a cabin in the forest!

3/ Cut our own tree for Christmas!

4/ A little brunch with friends in our backyard!

5/ Illustrate one of my favorite subjects!

6/ Spend the weekend in beautiful Big Sur!

And these moments will all be even more precious this year as they will be shared with Lula! I am so excited!

And you, what are your favorite things to do this season?

My baby shower

Sorry for the silence these last couple of weeks. I’ve been busy working on custom bunnies orders after my baby nursery post! Thank you to all the customers and for all the compliments you wrote about it. I am finally done with all the cleaning/rearranging our home to welcome baby and getting the last things we needed from our long list. I am 9 days until the due date and so ready for her to come out, these last days feel so long! My parents are flying from France tomorrow and I am so excited to have them here for a month. I haven’t seen them since christmas and you can imagine how excited they are to welcome their first grand-child! My mum had a lot of fun shopping, she’s bringing one luggage full of baby clothes! Like mother, like daughter!

A couple weeks ago was my baby shower! I had a wonderful time thanks to my friends Zoé and Sarah who organized it. The food was delicious, the weather was fantastic! My friends who already have kids shared their stories and I received awesome presents! Both useful and adorable! My baby is one lucky lady! Here are some photos shot by my friend Kara, talented photographer!

Jordan, the party specialist from Oh happy day wrapped beautifully her present! She knows me well! Pompoms, colors makes me happy!Pretty ladies! Sarah, awesome photographer at Modern Kids Co. (she shot my maternity style a few weeks ago) and Lisa super talented fashion stylist!

The lovely Katie, editor at Refinery 29 came with her adorable baby boy Diego which gave me the opportunity to practice cuddling!I received this very cool polka dots lion from my friends Sonia who owns the online kids shop Sunday in Color!

Plums Clafouti Sunday!

My friend Sarah is the sweetest. We saw each other a couple days ago for little photoshoot and she brought me a big bag full of plums from her garden! So so good and exactly what I am craving for by these summer days!

I made a clafouti this evening with the ones I had left. Clafouti is a french dessert. It’s usually made with cherries but it’s as delicious with plums! I actually had a few raspberries and cherries left, so I mixed them all together and it’s yummy!

Here is the recipe:

You need plums (around 10), 4 eggs, 30cl milk, 100g sugar, 125g flour, 25g butter, salt

Butter a tart dish and fill in with stoned plums, cherries and raspberries.

In a bowl whisk the eggs with the sugar left and salt. Add in the flour, mix well and add the milk.

Pour the mixture over the plums and bake for 40 min at 360. Dusk with confectioners’ sugar and serve warm.

2/ Ice cream bar on a warm evening in San Francisco.

3/ My cat sleeping like a baby.

4/ Learning how to knit a beanie!

5/ Couldn’t resist buying this ice-cream cone jump rope, I know there will be at least a couple of years before she plays with it, so for now it’s decorating the nursery!

6/ Another pretty and colorful house in San Francisco, on Sanchez st. and 18th.

7/ Finally put my paper art up on Society 6, so you can now buy my iphone cases!
