A Little Celebration for Baby’s Arrival

Last Sunday I had my girlfriends over for an autumn breakfast in our backyard to celebrate the arrival of my baby girl. Luckily a few minutes before they all arrived the rain stopped! But we would have had fun anyway. We shared some delicious pastries my girlfriends baked: pear and chocolate tart, croissants, maple and walnut pie, madeleines, date cake, chocolate cake, citrus salad… on a beautiful table my friend Mrs. Peasy styled! I took care of the flowers station for a little workshop we had after breakfast. At first I wanted to have someone come and teach us how to make flower crowns, but it was a last minute idea and had a hard time finding someone available for that day. So I decided to watch a few tutorials and find images for inspiration on Pinterest, went to the flowers market on Friday and filled the moses basket with the beautiful flowers I found according to my fall color palette. It was a success! We all had so much fun making the crowns and turns out it wasn’t too difficult too make especially for all those crafty ladies!

Now let’s have a baby! I am 39 weeks and 3 days, my due date is this Sunday. Today is my birthday, I am 32 and it would be the most wonderful gift if she showed her face tonite!

38 weeks! 11 days to go!

38weeks_5

11 more days to go! I can’t believe how fast this pregnancy went by and we are soon going to be a family of four! I asked my friend to come by the house the other day to capture one of my last days being pregnant, enjoying a cup of tea in cozy clothes and my favorite hammock chair! I know I will spend a lot of time in here with my baby.

I am so so excited and can’t wait to see Lula as a big sister. She loves babies so much and she is so gentle with them, she likes to put a little blanket on, bring toys, kiss them, sing… I am sure she is going to take her role very seriously. I also know it will be a little challenging and frustrating for her because she won’t be able to do everything she wants to do like push her in her doll stroller, holding her too tight or dress her up. She’s already taking her baby sister’s clothes out of the dresser and try to put them on her dolls or the cat…same with the diapers. For now, she doesn’t really understand what’s going on, sometimes she points my belly and says “bébé” but she’ll only realize once the baby is here. I can’t wait to see how she’ll react, I am a little anxious too on how to handle everything, make sure she doesn’t get jealous. I already feel guilty about the fact that she won’t get as much attention as she used to be. I would love if you have any advice!

My Baby’s Flamingo Nursery!

flamingo-nursery_2

I had so much fun decorating this little space for our baby girl due next month! She will be sharing Lula’s bedroom. I’ve wanted a vintage rotin crib since I was pregnant with Lula so I was really happy to find one in France this summer. And I fell in love with the matching doll bed so Lula can play with her baby doll while I play with mine! The theme for this nursery is a little tropical, I wanted to make a paper flamingo for a long time so this was the perfect occasion and I thought it would look super fun with the shell mobile I bought in Greece this summer. The wall used to be grey for Lula’s nursery, but I wanted some change, something more colorful and not girly to balance with all the pink that’s in the room already! I am a little obsessed with that blue lately (I even got a new fabric set of that color for our bugaboo stroller). The one last thing I’d like to add on the wall is this beautiful pineapple mirror I saw in a cute little shop in France, they only had the larger one but my mum is on the waiting list for the little one that should arrive any day now. I am so excited to add it to the space, I think it will be really cute on the wall above the dresser.

I was so happy to find this dresser on The Land of Nod, it fits perfectly in the color palette and it looks like it was made to be with Lula’s caravan bed from Kalon studio!

When I discovered Donsje on instagram I fell in love with their booties, so thank you Donsje, now my baby girl has a bigger shoe collection than mine (yes they are not all shown in the photos…). Oh and I just saw they have new ones in their shop, I mean look at these!

I am addicted to baskets as you know and had my eye on the Eliza Gran one for quite some time. The colors of the poms is perfect for her little space and it looks great with the ones I brought back from Marrakesh and London. I added the crochet round rug to make the space a little cozier and brighten up the floor a little (our hardwood floors are so dark! I wish I could paint them all white!)

Oh I can’t wait to see her little feet in these!

Goodbye Summer!

greece_5

I know we’ve already said goodbye to summer about a week ago but it doesn’t feel quite yet like fall in San Francisco. September and October are usually the best months of the year (I mean they are my favorite) where we can enjoy really nice and warm days. But I am excited for cooler days, sweater weather and getting cozy for the arrival of our baby girl in November, so soon!

For now, I am remembering the wonderful time we had in Greece with my family this summer. My parents rented a house on the island of Paros, in a charming little village called Parikia. Lula and I, my parents, my sister and brother in law all met for 12 days. Only my husband had to stay in San Francisco for work and my brother in London. Next time maybe! It’s so rare to be able to all meet at the same time in one place now we all live in different countries.

It was such a nice and relaxing trip. Walking around the little streets of Parikia, visiting other villages on the island like Naoussa, take the boat to beautiful beaches.

My girl! I love this photo of her with the pink door so much! Those little legs!

And that blue! I want to go back!

Looking at these photos of me in these dresses makes me realize how much my belly had grown since! I was around 25 weeks pregnant in France. Have you seen my pregnancy style feature in MOTHER mag last week? I was wearing the same dresses at 31 weeks.

I miss Greece already, but the weather has been really nice in San Francisco since we got back, I can still wear dresses and I hope I will be able to until baby arrive, it is so much more comfortable! September and October are my favorite months here, they can be really warm, much warmer than July and August when it’s usually foggy and cold.
